How do I register?

The camp is now full for 2009 and registrations have been closed.

Which celebrities will be there ?

These have not been finalised, but currently we have Jim Williams, Assistant coach to the Wallabies coming!

My child has never played Rugby before, will they be able to keep up with the other kids?

Yes. The camp has been developed for kids who have had no rugby experience and for kids who have playing rugby for many years. The Camp program is designed to focus on developing kids basic rugby skills, so each partcipant will be challenged each day at the Camp. It does have a particular focus on passing, catching and evading, which are skills that are used in Rugby Union, as well as some specialised skills such as rucking.

Will there be tackling?

Yes. The camp has been developed to cater for everyone to improve their rugby skills in a safe and constructed environment.

Can girls participate as well?

Absolutely! The camp is for girls and boys aged 8 - 17 years. All girls who attend the camp will participate in exactly the same drills as the boys. Girls will board in separate buildings to the boys.

Do the parents have to participate?

No, the camp is delivered by professional, trained coaching staff, so there is no need to volunteer. If you choose to have your child board at The Armidale School during the camp, they will be looked after by people with boarding experience.

Will they be playing Rugby games?

There will be a lot of modified games to assist and develop their skills and put to practice what they have learnt in that particular training session. On the final day of the Camp we have Rugby games before the Camp Presentation. This gives each partciapant the opportunity to apply their new skills which they have developed during their stay at the Camp.

Is there a maximum number of children who can participate in Abigroup Camp?

Yes. The camp has staffed to cater for a maximum number of kids to ensure quality delivery of the program. Once this number has been reached registrations will close. If this occurs, we will keep your details on a waiting list and let you know if there has been a cancellation.

The last couple of years have seen registrations close before the due date, so we suggest you register as soon as possible.

How do I make sure my children definitely have a place in the camp?

You should have received an email confirming your child's place in the camp (please check any spam folders), but if you are unsure, please contact us.

Do I need to pack a lunch or will he need money to buy food?

All meals are provided at the camp (absolutely no hidden costs) and there will be some fruit and drinks provided for snacks.

What should each particpant bring to the camp?

Each camper will be provided with a Sports Pack, We suggest each camper to bring a mouthguard, rugby boots, towels (shower & swimming), toiletries, casual clothes (to wear at meal times), training gear (allow 5 days – in case of bad weather) and swimming gear.
